Southern Blog Society Conference

A few weekends ago, I drove down to Charleston for the 3rd Annual Southern Blog Society Conference.  If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen the hashtag #SBScon.  I had never been to a blogger conference before so I was a little nervous and didn’t quite know what to expect.  When I finally arrived, after my AC not working on a 100 degree day, I was thrilled to arrive at Belmond Charleston Place and see my roomie, Taylor-Rae! That hotel was the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in.  My mind was at ease as soon as we arrived to the Welcome Cocktail Party hosted by Swoozies. Everyone there was so interesting and we all had so much in common.  There were girls from all of the country and it was really fun getting to meet so many likeminded people.  As for my outfit, I wore a bright blue scallop hem skirt with a floral off-shoulder top paired with my all time favorite and super comfy ankle strap leather sandals

The next morning we woke up early and had breakfast at Charleston Grill inside of our hotel.  We soon headed across the street to where the guest speakers, panel, and networking event would be held.
We learned a lot about SEO strategies, web design advice, and even some accounting for bloggers. I went home with a lot of good notes I took and I can’t wait to apply some of the tips I learned to Pretty in the Pines. There were some pretty cool speakers from great brands such as ShopStyle, Kendra Scott, Lilly Pulitzer, ESPNW, and so many more.  After the speakers, the curtains on the stage opened and behind the curtain was a huge room filled with booths and tables that brands had set up for networking.  It was awesome.  We spent a couple hours walking around and meeting the different brands, talking to them about our blogs, and learning more about each other.  I’m looking forward to working with some of these amazing brands in the future!
For the second day of the conference, I wore this purple shift dress which now happens to be on sale and is also available in black/white!  I also found a leopard print one from the same brand and I love it. With the solid purple shift, I decided to wear it with my leopard print pumps

After the networking portion of the conference it was time for me to pack my bags and head back to Raleigh for my best friend’s bridal shower.  Before I left though, we drove around the streets of Charleston on a hunt for a pink wall to take photos.  In Charleston, it’s actually a pretty easy task to find a pretty wall. Charleston is the home of gorgeous buildings every where you look! Shout out to Taylor-Rae for illegally parking for a minute so we could get some good pics!
I also loved getting to meet the girl behind one of the blogs I read before I even had PITP, Shelby from Glitter and Gingham, who is awesome! Not only does she have the best name (jk, kindof) but she is so friendly, has the best style and the cutest Kentucky accent.
I had to leave the conference a day early but overall, it was such a great event.  I can’t wait until next year’s! If you are interested in joining the Southern Blog Society, I would highly recommend joining this community of smart and creative women.  If you have any questions about applying, feel free to email me! Now I just need to figure out when I can get back to Charleston!
