A Weekend in Newport

My mom and I decided to surprise my Grandma for her 80th birthday this past weekend.  She, along with a bunch of my family, live in Newport, RI… one of the most beautiful places I’ve been.  I grew up going there every summer and staying for weeks with them.  It had actually been quite a few years since I had visited so I was really excited for our quick weekend trip up there.  We lucked out with the perfect sunny-but-not-too-hot weather and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Now about the outfit… this post actually includes my current favorites all in one.  It thankfully wasn’t too hot in Rhode Island to wear my favorite lightweight spotted shirt and white distressed jeans since they are the comfiest. I brought along some of the prettiest eff.Y.bee bracelets which y’all gotta check out.  Their Turquoise Stone Bliss Bracelet is my favorite and you can choose out of so many options to create your own “Bliss Stack”! I’ll be giving away $50 towards your own jewelry from eff.Y.bee so keep on the look out today for a photo on Instagram.  If you want a head start, you can go ahead and follow @effybee and @prettyinthepines on Instagram to enter! Underneath the photo, you’ll just need to tag a friend and that will be your entry.  You can enter more than once, just make sure whoever you tag is on a separate comment/line.To enter, you can click right here!

Oh, and if you’re ever planning a trip to Newport, here are my top 5 favorite things to do and/or see in Newport, RI :

+ Walk along the iconic Cliff Walk for the most beautiful scenery ever.  Mansions, oceanviews, and a nice 3.5 mile walk with numerous exits incase you just want to walk a little ways! Honestly, everywhere you walk around Newport is going to be gorgeous.

+ Have drinks on The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn while sitting in an Adirondack chair overlooking the blue water.

+ Tour one of the stunning mansions of Newport.  My favorites growing up were The Breakers, Marble House, and Rosecliff.  You can see them all on the Newport Mansions website.

+ Take a boat tour! Luckily, my uncle has a boat up there but you can’t go to ‘The Ocean State’ and not take a scenic ride on the ocean.  There are numerous boat tour options you can check out.

+ Shop and dine downtown! Its all right near the water and aside from it being a beautiful atmosphere, there is a pretty awesome shopping scene.

There is truly a never-ending list of activities in this city.  The weather in the summer is the best so I would highly suggest visiting sometime between May and October.

xo, Shelby
