At-Home Teeth Whitening

I knew once June rolled around, I’d be a lot more busy with wedding planning and other special occasions. With that said, there are always a few must-do’s I have before those types of events. I like to try to get in my best shape fitness-wise, drink more water to clear my skin, and last but not least, whiten my teeth. As someone who spent six years working in dental offices, I take my dental health and whitening pretty seriously. With our engagement photos recently, I wanted to make sure that TJ and I both had some pearly whites. After all, we’ll have those photos forever and they aren’t the cheapest things so we might as well look our best in them! While my teeth were already fairly white, I was still interested in seeing how the product would work.

When Smile Brilliant reached out to see if we’d want to try their whitening trays soon after our engagement, I immediately said yes! It sounded like the custom-fitted professional trays you pay a lot for at dental offices but everything was an at-home treatment. Before Smile Brilliant, you’d have to pay about $500-600 for this type of whitening system at the dentist. I was a little skeptical at first because I’ve had bad experiences with drug-store whitening strips making my teeth so painfully sensitive. My favorite part about Smile Brilliant is the de-sensitizing gel that comes along with the whitening gel. It worked so well and my teeth never felt sensitive except for one time when I forgot my trays were in for over 1.5 hours. I’d recommend starting out at 30 minutes and then adjusting.
So, here’s how it all worked! First, Smile Brilliant sent the impression material for you to take impressions on your teeth. After we sent those back to them, they were able to make the custom-fit trays.
Once we got our trays back, we quickly began our whitening process. We didn’t use it every single day but we would use it about every other day for about 2 weeks. To begin, we put the whitening gel on the inside of the tray and then placed in our mouths for 30 minutes to an hour. After that, we rinsed our mouths out and used the de-sensitizing gel which helped re-hydrate the teeth and prevent any sensitivity from occurring. Check out our before and after photos!
In the end, we were very happy with the results and will definitely keep using this product whenever we need it!
