My Go-To Ornamental Trim

Back in 2020, I added decorative moulding to my walls in our first NYC apartment and I’ve been finding ways to add character to every wall since. It’s truly one of the least expensive ways to make the largest impact and I thought I’d save some of my favorites in one place to refer back to when designing rooms! You can order all of these on Wayfair, which makes it easy since I don’t particularly love adding 8 foot trim to my car each time – delivery is the favorite way to go for supplies like this!

Starting with my most ordered… this is a 1.25 inch wide trim that you really can’t go wrong with and can use for so many purposes. I’m about to frame my window wall using these later this week but I’ve also used it to make picture frame or box molding in a bathroom and guest room.

If you’re looking for more renter-friendly ways to add character, I added this combination of decorative moulding (and corners!) to our old bedroom (also ordered from Wayfair) which made such a difference in elevating the room.

& if you want to go the SUPER ornate route, I added these to our old bedroom and it completely changed the space. These are heavier though so I wouldn’t trust command strips for these corners.
